The Economic and Social History Society of Scotland was formed in 1983 and we continue to promote interest, research, and publication in Scottish history. We produce the Journal of Scottish Historical Studies, run a prestigious essay prize, and both run and sponsor events.
We are proud of our broad, international membership, which includes professional historians, schoolteachers, undergraduate and postgraduate students, curators, and many more people from all walks of life who share an interest in Scotland’s rich history.
Subscription to the Journal of Scottish Historical Studies brings automatic membership of the Society. This can be done either directly through the Edinburgh University Press website, or by post, writing to:
Edinburgh University Press
Holyrood Road, 12 (2f) Jackson’s Entry
Edinburgh EH8 8PJ
Information on subscription rates is available here.
Our members of the Society receive free online access to the Journal of Scottish Historical Studies, and are also entitled to a 30% discount on titles published by Edinburgh University Press. When placing an order, purchasers should inform EUP that they are members of the Society.
